There Is a New Dead Island 2 Developer

Anyone remember Dead Island 2 ? While it was first announced at E3 2014, it’s actually been a thing since the third quarter of 2012. Well, it has clawed its way out of the ground again. During the THQ Nordic Interim Report Q1 for April to June 2019, the company brought the game up again and revealed it has another developer working on it.

Dead Island 2’ s new developer is Dambuster Studios. This, like Fishlabs and Volition, is a Deep Silver developer. Its first game was Homefront: The Revolution. We don’t know how long it has been working on Dead Island 2 , but do know that it finished making the Homefront game in 2016.

This is now the third studio to be work on Dead Island 2 . Yager was the first studio attached to the game, as it kicked things off in 2012. Things didn’t proceed as planned, which led it it leaving the project in 2015. In 2016, work shifted to Sumo Digital. However, we have no idea what happened between Sumo Digital’s involvement in 2016 and Dambuster Studios’ now.

We also don’t know what, if any, elements from past studios will remain in Dead Island 2 . Initially, Yager’s take was supposed to have four characters to choose from and eight-player co-op. But, after 2015, exact details on what the game could be like seemed to fade. It might not even take place in multiple locations in California anymore. At this point, all we can really count on is that Dead Island 2 will have zombies.
