Sony to Explore PC Titles, Fortnite Honors Boseman

Sony to Explore PC Titles, Fortnite Honors Boseman

Sony to Explore First Party Titles for PC

Sony recently released its Corporate Report 2020 which, while mostly pretty dry, has some interesting information for fans of their games. Right at the end of the section titled “Games & Network Services,” Sony stated, we will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.”

While this idea is unusual, it isn’t altogether without precedent. Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding both enjoyed limited periods of exclusivity on the PlayStation 4 before moving to the PC. It would appear as though Sony sees an opportunity on that front.

One of the reasons this seems to make a lot of sense is the fact that PCs account for a larger share of the market than Sony’s PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One. While Sony does have a new console coming out later this year, it is expected to be in limited supply. It will be interesting to see Sony’s strategy evolve and change in the coming years.

Fortnite Adds Black Panther Monument

The popular battle royale game, Fortnite, has added a new point of interest in the form of a Black Panther statue, named after the popular Marvel character. While the actor who portrayed Black Panther in the films, Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away last week, this POI was not actually created in response. Still, it might serve as a decent memorial in a time where many people are hurting over the loss.

The POI, which looks like a panther atop a rock, is part of a narrative that the developer, Epic Games, had already planned and reaching the monument on the map rewards the player with a change in music that will be reminiscent of the films.

It can be found west of an area called Misty Meadows and is denoted on the map by a glowing ring. This POI continues a tradition of Marvel crossovers with Fortnite but hopefully this one might become a little more permanent. As mentioned, it could be a nice memorial to a heroic actor.

This will be available at launch.

The beta will be exclusive for at least five days on the PS4, according to the game’s reveal trailer. That means that the earliest the other betas could arrive would be on the 13 th .  Access will be made available to pre-order customers who will also receive some in-game bonus content.
