The first Rage 2 expansion is on the way. Come September 26, 2019, people will be able to pay $15 (1,500 Rage Coins) to allow a new enemy to hop in and haunt their games. It’s time for Rise of the Ghosts. (And it isn’t even Halloween yet!)
The “ghosts” in the Rage 2 expansion’s title refer to a new faction called the Ghosts. They’re the antagonists for the new storyline. Years ago, Ghosts wreaked havoc on the Wasteland. However, a new leader named Iris ended up winning them over after the Authority Wars and getting them to a new location called Overgrown City. She modified all of them, giving them nanotrite abilities and making them her willing subjects.
But, you have a chance to stop these Ghosts before they start ruining everything. Ranger Walker will be able to head to Overgrown City to fight Ghosts on their home turf and perhaps even encounter Iris. You’ll learn what’s going on. You’ll also learna new ability, Void, have a chance to get a Ghost Motorcycle while you’re visiting the new region, and get to wield a Feltrite Laser Launcher.
In addition to the basic $15 version of this add-on, there’s a deluxe edition. That costs an additional $5 and gives you Wasteland Wizard cheat codes, a Battle Standard vehicle banner, a Progress Booster to help you get through the game faster, and DOOM BFG. All of that extra stuff is just a bonus, though, and people can easily enjoy this expansion without them.
As a reminder, this is only one of two Rage 2 expansions. A second one is still on the way and will also add a new storyline, location, and equipment. Its release window was tentatively set for Fall 2019, though that may have shifted since this first expansion slipped from August into September.
