No E3? Summer Gaming News Wrap-up - Part 2
ps5 cheatcc reveal.jpg

The weekend was full of gaming news, with IGN, PC Gamer, GamesRadar, Kinda Funny, and of course Sony itself running streaming events in lieu of E3. For Sony's part, we got the full PS5 reveal, including several new game announcements and a look at the console itself. You can check out all these events archived on their various YouTube channels, but we're here to break down some of the biggest news. Naturally, that means we start with the PS5.

The PS5 itself is quite a looker. As you can see in the image above, it's a strikingly different design compared to what we usually see with new consoles. What's especially notable is that there will be two different SKUs from the jump, the same look but one is a digital-only variant without a disc drive. No pricing or release date yet!

In terms of games, that was where the brunt of the presentation focused on. Launch day will include a new GTA V port with bonuses, and from there it's games like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon: Forbidden West showing off what Sony's next-gen looks like. Bluepoint is making a Demon's Souls remake, and Insomniac is also making Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Some new IP from Capcom and Square Enix were teased, and Capcom also gave us the first look at Resident Evil Village, the eighth core game in the series.

From other streams, we largely saw expanded gameplay reveals of games that we already knew about, across several genres and platforms. The PC Gaming Show also included the Steam debut of Atlus, which brought Persona 4 Golden to PC for the first time. Xseed is bringing Story of Seasons to PC for the first time as well, bringing the original Harvest Moon series to a larger audience.
