Metal Gear Solid 5 Creator Admits the Game Has Plot Holes

Hideo Kojima, brilliant game designer that he is, is also the butt of many jokes . His plotlines are incredibly convoluted and involve clones, giant robots, sentient severed limbs, and more. Many of you may be screaming into your YouTube cameras, asking us to “leave Kojima alone!” but he just makes it so easy. Heck, he himself admits that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be full of plotholes!

OK, so he didn’t come out and admit it like that. Instead, he said that we can expect “minor inconsistencies.” This is because Metal Gear Solid V actually takes place between Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid 1 … in that order. Kojima says that making a midquel will always produce inconsistencies, saying, “I’m pretty sure that the guys at Star Wars had the same issues.” Wow Kojima. Star Wars ? Really?

“The most important part is writing something that is fun, something that is impressive, something that is better than it was before,” Kojima said. “So sometimes in the interest of doing this, of having a better experience, we sacrifice some consistencies in the story. I hope the fans and players understand this, but I need to write the best we can, even if there are some small discrepancies.”

He does have a point there. As long as Metal Gear Solid V is fun, who are we to judge? Oh wait… We are game critics. It’s our job to judge… OK, then carry on with your craziness, Kojima! We will enjoy picking it apart.
